The University of Tennessee (UT) through the Distance Education and Independent Study Division, in conjunction with academic colleges and departments, delivers 21 degree and certificate programs and a variety of undergraduate credit courses designed primarily for working professionals unable to attend classes on the Knoxville campus, to over 3,000 students. Areas of study include agricultural sciences, business administration, education, engineering, health and medicine, and information science. Utilizing the university's Live Online Delivery System, online classes are offered in real-time so students see and hear everything as it happens. This Internet-based interactive media also features online notes, quizzes and discussion boards accessible to students and faculty anytime. Audio/video playbacks or recordings of previous class sessions are available over the Internet during the semester.
