Atkinson Faculty of Liberal and Professional Studies (Atkinson) at York University is committed to providing students with convenient learning opportunities. Courses are offered during the day (professional programs), late afternoon/evenings, weekends, off-campus, and by correspondence and the Internet.
Atkinson offers distance credit courses in a variety of disciplines, as well as two complete degrees and a certificate via distance education. Students can earn a 90-credit Bachelor of Administrative Studies (BAS), a 90 or 120-credit Bachelor of Business Economics (BA), and a Management Certificate by combining distance offerings. Courses are also taught in a mixed-mode of delivery. These courses blend and alternate online and in-class lectures. Distance courses begin in September, January, and May and correspond to the University's on-campus schedule. Atkinson's Office of Computing Technology and e-Learning Services (OCTES) provides a web presence for every Atkinson course, along with many technology enhanced teaching and learning tools. Instructors teaching in-class courses may choose to use a course Web site and all instructors teaching Internet courses use them to their greatest potential.
